I finished this larger painting of green glass objects today. It is 14x20 inches. I think I will frame it up and include it in my show for the Governor's Gallery ( more about that later).
But what I really want to talk about today is the concept of when you run your own business you can make your own rules. Why did this thought never occur to me before? I thought you had to follow a template laid down by someone else in order to be a success. What I have learned so far: You really can make your own rules at certain points in your life and if not now ? When? It is the equivalent of eating dessert first. What a delicious way of looking at life. How would your life look different if you decided to "switch it up? "

I have my own music teaching studio, for 17 years now. At first I modeled my rules (policies) after another teacher who had decades of experience. It's very hard to hold fast to rules, when everyone we deal with has individual needs--and desires, some of which may not be in our own best interest. The phrase that helps me 'hold the line,' for the most part is: if you don't have your own rules, everyone will make new ones for you.

That is very well put Jeanne. I guess I am not the only one who is finding their way as an individual.
