This week I had a moment to reflect and realized I had lost my way a bit. I enjoy making Youtube videos but it was never my intention to be a Youtube creator....My goal is teaching and so I have started a local push on social media to get more students who want to paint with me. It is so easy to forget what your initial intention is when the numbers on the computer reward your silly ego. That's the way it is for me. I had to remember what the reason was for starting this whole thing. Has that ever happened to you? You find yourself in a place you didn't plan on and there is nothing wrong with it but you realize it is time to pivot and be clear about what you want and who you are? What I have learned so far: Ego has a voice and it is powerful. I try not to engage in activity that just feed my ego. It is just an emotional happy meal of fast food .It fills you up but it is temporary and can make you forget what you purpose is.

I know what you mean Jo. Posting art online certainly has it's pros and cons. It can become a roller coaster ride of likes/comments or it can be a way to connect with people about something you love. Personally, I have enjoyed your videos and hope you don't scrap them entirely!

I will keep making them Suzanne. I really enjoy doing them and thinking of ideas and tips. I just realized I needed to focus on other goals too. I can be single minded at times. But no worries. I have lots of places and things I want to show on my Youtube channel. Lots to share.

Jo, I know just what you mean. After your wonderful lesson, I realized I'd better sharpen up on my drawing so that when I do watercolor, it's right--i.e., perspective in tilted profiles, anatomy, etc. So I've been doing lots of self-training and will be back to painting with you once I master more drawing techniques. Thanks! Kathy

Nice to hear from you Kathy. I think I have shared with you and just about everybody that I often use a projected image or a grid system. I like to get to the painting part and find drawing is not my strength. But there is a lot of drawing in painting too. Don't let the mastery of drawing get in the way of your goals ....sometimes what you see as a weakness ends up being what makes you special.
